My first USAF duty assignment. Age 18. 1979-1980. Me and a best buddy from the day (that's him in the photo) did a 40th reunion trip there in Summer 2018. And again in Summer 2023. And doing another in June 2025. What a wonderful place. Experience of a lifetime.

Turbulent time in late 70-Apr 72. Best Air Force friend died of heart attack at 23. Went to England after to an assignment I thrived at. Loved the area.

I was stationed here 30 years ago. It was a small listening post without a lot of amenities other than the location... that was more than enough. I loved it here. The local people were great, the food incredible and boy it was cheap. Of course the base is gone, they are no longer on the lira, and I'm far from here, but I did get to revisit it a couple years ago via motorcycle, and it's still a beautiful area with some great riding roads near the base.

Stationed there 91-94. The few months living on the economy was an awesome immersion experience. Hard working helpful people (Latiano)! Outstanding food spoiled me! VERY critical of stateside "Italian" restaurants to this day! Local festivals, bike rides through the countryside, and to the coast were very enjoyable! Got to see Europe and Turkey (Corfu). Rosemary roasted chicken and small potatoes!! If you ate it, YOU KNOW!! Walking through lands where the Apostles may very well have traveled was awe-inspiring. I'm praying for the opportunity to travel there again!

Stationed at Ramstein AB, GE., 1985-88 with DoD. Wife being Italian, we met many relatives. Our 8 year old son contracted the measles on one of our trips into Southern Italy. The medics took great medical care of our son and made sure we had enough gas ration cards to complete our trip back.

Was never there. My family is from Bari I do know there's a USAF spec ops group that was flying out of there its small looks amazing n I read all the comments thank you guys for your service. Not a bad place to spend a year or 2. I will be making this trip soon to Rome then Bari, Brindisi n Sicily Debrus is coming. Look out.
